Eddie Lowery the Caddie, The Greatest Game Ever Played; A young caddie name of Eddie Lowery walked side by side with another caddie to win the 1913 US Open Championship at the Country Club in Brookline Mass.

Not an example of the proper thing to do skip school, but Eddie Lowery did the one thing that he claims changed his life and that was to ask to carry Francis Ouimet's bag.  As Margaret, Eddies wife would state, "Eddie always said that it, being on Francis's bag, changed his life because he met influential people who appreciated his passion for golf and hard work. They gave him opportunities he would not have otherwise."

Eddie never forgot what golf gave him, and he gave back in return.  Eddie went on to sponsor and advise Byron Nelson and Ken Venturi and other up coming golf professionals of the day.  He started the Eddie Lowery Scholarship program and funded the Francis Ouimet Scholarship fund and sat on the USGA executive committee for three years. Eddie passed away in 1984 and is buried next to a municipal course that some call the Poor Mans Pebble Beach a few miles from Cypress Point.
